We start the tour at Terrace of Piazzale Michelangelo for an overall look of the beautiful city of Florence before we continue to Piazza del Duomo where the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is located with its world famous renaissance Dome (designed by Brunelleschi). See the famous Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Gate of Paradise and continue to Piazza della Signoria - the place where Michelangelo originally decided to display his masterpiece and in which by itself is considered an open air museum of Florence with renaissance statues and the replica of Michelangelo’s David!

Meet our English speaking driver at port and depart to Cinque Terre. We will ride along the Gulf of La Spezia before we join the main scenic route leading to our first village of Porto Venere. Enjoy free time to explore this small town on your own (with easy access to the main sites).

Here is a list of things to do & see in Porto Venere:

Picturesque Promenade - Along the coast, reaching the church of St. Pietro. According to legend, it is such a beautiful place that Venus, the god of love, is believed to have been born here. (originally named Port of Venus).

Amazing Panoramic Views of the cliffs and the island of Palmaria with the Gulf of Poets and the Marble Mountains of Carrara - All can be seen from here.

Doria Castle - Climb up to the middle-age castle (only for the fit) to enjoy the great views (entry fee of a few euros).

Terracielo - Homes of the fishermen and middle-age streets with typical colors.

The Church of Santa Maria Bianca - where a spectacular festival takes place once a year.

Typical Bars & Restaurants - Try local food such as pesto, Testaroli (ligurian type of pasta) and ligurian focaccia bread with cheese.

Wine Bars - to taste or buy Sciacchetra (local dessert wine) or local white wine of the Cinque Terre region.

Small Beach - for a lovely swim or relax by the water.

After Porto Venere, we will take a panoramic road, crossing villages and mountains and arrive at the tiny and cozy village of Corniglia.  Along this road you will enjoy views of vineyards and olive yards perching on cliffs. The driver will stop for panoramic views & photo opportunity of Manarola.

Corniglia is the only village in Cinque Terre without a pier hence it has no crowds. It is the most authentic village of the Cinque Terre.

You will have about 45 minutes to enjoy a walk through the village of Corniglia and sit at the panoramic terrace where you can view all villages of Cinque Terre at once! In Corniglia you may find bars and restaurants for a food break or for a glass of wine. You may also visit the church of St. Pietro. 

Next is the village of Vernazza, which is a must for any visitor to the Cinque Terre region. You will have about 1 hour to explore the streets and churches or, to climb up to the Doria Castle for a breathtaking view of the coastline (only for the brave).

Vernazza is the place for street food. Enjoy fried fish or pesto and pizza here.

For those who do not want to eat or explore the area, there is a small beach where you can rest. 

After Vernazza you will enjoy a personal drop-off at the pier.

This visit was specifically designed for cruisers with the following 2 ideas in mind:

1. Spend less even when touring in a small and intimate group settings.

2. Enjoy this beautiful part of Italy with minimal or no walking to sites and avoid trains, ferries, sea conditions etc.

The visit is mostly done on your own at an easier pace and with the help of a driver who will drop you off as close as possible to sites and will return to pick you up.  Many cruisers give up on this region in advance due to its geography and challenges - You no longer have to do that! (no climbing of ferries or trains nor long walks to/from sites are involved)

Using a new mini-van, we will whisk you through the Sicilian country side to Europe’s highest and most active volcano, Mount Etna (we use mini-vans for an easy access to sites & minimal walking). We will ascend through vineyards and nice villages all the way to the height of 6,000 feet above sea level, where you will explore extinct craters and lava flows. Meeting point at the port of Cannes. The chauffeur will be there with a sign board. Very easy to find him. 

The tour starts 30 minutes after the ship arrives in the bay, but he will wait for you.

You drive a bit in Cannes to see the main part of the town (Film Festival, seafront…). Then you drive on the highway to Nice and cross the town by the seafront. Depending on the traffic you can stop in Eze and after Monaco, or Monaco first and Eze on the way back. You drive mostly on the lower Corniche (seafront) and the middle Corniche for the panoramic views. You usually also walk with the chauffeur in Monaco, Monte-Carlo and Eze and he give you some free time for lunch or shopping.

Eze is a hilltop medieval village. The access is not easy for people having mobility issues. Not so many stairs, but you walk up for about 10 minutes.

Next, you’ll head to the charming medieval village of Castelmola, just above Taormina. Stroll through its picturesque streets, taking in the spectacular sea views and the majestic Etna. You’ll also have the chance to visit the 13th-century Arab castle, the highest and most panoramic point in the area.

Afterwards, we’ll return to Taormina’s historic center, where you’ll have free time to explore the village at your own pace — wander through its narrow streets and quaint alleys, filled with charming shops and hidden corners. We can recommend a local spot for a light meal. You’ll also have time to visit the Greek Theatre and Taormina's main attractions.

Itinerary

1. Mosta Rotunda (Dome) – Admire the impressive basilica and its massive dome. The Sanctuary Basilica of the Assumption of Malta Lady. The Mosta Dome, is a Roman Catholic parish church and basilica in Mosta, Malta, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. It was built between 1833 and the 1860s to neoclassical designs of Giorgio Grognet de Vassé, on the site of an earlier Renaissance church which had been built around 1614 to designs of Tommaso Dingli.

2. Mdina (Old City) – Walk through the medieval “Silent City” with stunning architecture. Mdina is a fortified city in the Northern Region of Malta which served as the island's capital from antiquity to the medieval period.

3. Dingli Cliffs – Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the western coast.  This stop might be windy and chilly in colder months, so bring a jacket. 

4. Blue Grotto - Blue Grotto - Time and weather permitting, there may be a photo stop, or an optional boat ride. The Grotto are a number of sea caverns on the south east coast of Malta. The boat ride to visit inside the caverns costs is €10.00 p.p.  cash only (not included in above price). Boat trips are weather-dependent and may not operate if the sea is too rough.

5. Marsaxlokk Harbour – Stroll along the traditional fishing village, see the colorful boats, and experience local culture.  Sundays are best for the local fish market, but any day is great for a short visit. November might be less lively, but restaurants and boats will still be around.

6. Gardjola Gardens – Finish with stunning views over Valletta, Grand Harbour, and Fort St. Angelo. The gardens are open and accessible, however windy conditions could make it less comfortable in colder months.

Instructions for Meeting Point in Palma de Mallorca: 

Once you arrive at the port of Palma de Mallorca and disembark from the ship, you will need to exit the port and take a taxi. It is easy to find taxis right outside the port.

Ask the driver to take you to Travessia d'en Ballester, 8 (near San Miguel Church). The taxi fare is approximately €10.00-15.00, and the ride will take around 10-15 minutes from the port.

At the end of your bike tour, the provider will call a taxi for you to return to the ship.
