July 7th ROME

Arrival Flight # UA 40,  July 7th into Rome,  landing time 7:45 am.

Drop off at DoubleTree  by Hilton Rome Montihotel at the end of the tour

Your English speaking chauffer (Giuliano who is available) will meet you at the Airport and and take you for a full day tour (about 6 hours) of the best of Rome. You will still see the same sites but you will have the driver with you at all time. He will provide commentary and then give you free time at each stop tour visit independently.

At the second half of the tour he will take you to the Vatican where you would meet the walk along museum guide (Rosanna) for a 3 hours tour of the Vatican. Giuliano will be in contact with Rosanna and coordinate the meeting and pick up. They will both have your Vatican Tickets.

At the end of the tour the driver will take you to your hotel.

The luggage could stay safely with him the whole time, or you could drop it off at the concierge of the hotel if you prefer.

Tickets will have to be booked as well. You definitely need skip the lines tickets for the Vatican. 

You could choose to see the Colosseum from the outside (no tickets) since you have a lot to cover in a day and entering two main sites will mean having to cut something out, or you could visit the Colosseum the next day during your transfer to the port.

Giuliano could come and pick you up for a direct transfer to your ship for a cost of  EUR 230.

Barcelona July 15-16

Hotel in Barcelona for July 15th: Booked the hotel Le Méridien Barcelona - La Rambla 111, C/ del Pintor Fortuny, 4-6, 08001 Barcelona, Spain

I suggest you stay at a location near la Rambla (see here for ideas). La Rambla is a long road full of life that starts at  Placa De Catalunya and borders the Gothic Quarter. Staying in this area will allow you to spend a lovely evening without going far.  There you you can spend time walking the road, catching flamenco shows and visiting the great market Mercat de La Boqueria where you can catch some great tapas. And if you have time stroll the gothic quarter as well.

• Since this is the day your cruise arrives at the port I suggest booking a private driver that can take you for a full day tour of Barcelona highlights right from the port. The driver will meet you at your ship's pier, take you on a tour of the main highlights of Barcelona and then drop you off at your hotel. 

• You will visit the Sagrada Familia at 10:30 and Park Güell at 12 am

• The luggage will stay safely with the guide the whole day.

Transfer will be purchased on the same day by credit card. Transfer costs are EUR 40 per person (adult) for a full day ferry service.  If you use the train it should cost about 5-10 EUR per person, and it is faster.  To reach the train station you will need a taxi which will cost about EUR 15. The guide will be with you and coordinating everything according to your preferences. Something to decide with the guide.

You would meet your guide our expert guide for a 6-7 hours visit of the Cinque Terre (5 beautiful fishing villages along a spectacular coastline). You will visit the 3 nicest villages. The villages will be reached by a combination of ferry and train depending on weather and your own preferences. 

Proposed Itinerary: Take the shuttle bus at the gang way of your ship to go to the cruise terminal building (5minutes ride). Meet your guide at The cruise terminal and enjoy a short walk to the pier (10 minutes)  along the seaside promenade. With the scheduled boat you’ll sail across the Gulf of La Spezia , admire Portovenere (a XII c. Town) by the sea and finally be amazed by the vertical cliffs on the way to the National Park of Cinque Terre. You’ll visit Manarola, then Vernazza, finally Monterosso. In the afternoon you’ll go back to La Spezia by train (30 minutes ride) where you can either walk across the city centre to the cruise terminal of La Spezia (25/30 minutes) or go there by taxi . During the tour you will have the chance to taste local delicacies and stop for a nice lunch.

  • Visit one of Mallorca's most important medieval monuments: the Bellver Castle, which stands on a hill and offers an astounding view of Palma and its port.  Entrance tickets costs EUR 4 per person payable on site (not include in listed price above).

  • During the day we will have a chance to stop by the pearl museum if interested (free to enter). Or you can stroll the commercial area where pearls are sold at factory prices.

  • See Palma historical city for an optional visit with your guide  inside of Palma Cathedral.

  • You will be taken back to the ship at the end of the tour.
